Which iPhone Size is Best for You? Let’s Find Out!

Is bigger really better? Or is a smaller iPhone size the best for you? Today, we’re going to explore these questions as they relate to iPhones. What’s up, reader? I’m Kelvin, and welcome to my blog. One-Handed Use vs. Screen Real Estate

Chances are, if you’re like me, you’ve debated whether to go for the larger Plus or Max-sized iPhone or to settle for the regular size. The first thing to consider is one-handed use: do you primarily interact with your iPhone using one hand or two?

One-Handed Operation

Regular-sized iPhones are significantly easier for one-handed operation. Actions like swiping down from the top to access your notification center or changing settings in the command center feel more natural and secure. With larger Plus or Max-sized iPhones, these actions can feel clunky and awkward, increasing the risk of dropping your device. The added weight of the larger models exacerbates this issue, making them clunkier to hold and more prone to slipping from your grasp.

Typing Efficiency

Typing on a Plus or Max-sized iPhone can also be challenging. It’s almost impossible to type efficiently with one hand, especially since you might need to use your pinky to support the phone. Additionally, the larger screen requires more thumb movement between key presses, making single-handed typing difficult and less accurate.

The Advantage of a Larger Screen

Perhaps one-handed use isn’t a major concern for you, and you’re more interested in the screen real estate. A bigger screen provides more display area to work with, which can be a significant advantage depending on how you use your iPhone.

Content Creation

If you use your iPhone for videography, photography, and editing, a larger display can be crucial. Editing on the go is much easier with a bigger screen, allowing for more detailed and precise adjustments. The additional screen real estate means longer adjustment bars for video or photo edits, enhancing your mobile content creation experience.

Content Consumption

If you consume a lot of content on your iPhone, such as watching YouTube videos, the screen size can impact your viewing experience. When I downsized from the iPhone Pro Max to the iPhone Pro, I immediately noticed how much smaller the content appeared in landscape format while holding the phone in portrait orientation. For vertical content, the difference is less noticeable. However, for landscape videos viewed in portrait mode, the smaller width of the regular-sized iPhone screen can significantly affect your viewing experience.

Battery Life Considerations

Charging the battery of an iPhone
The size of an iPhone determines the size of its battery and hence its charge storage capacity.

Battery life is another critical factor influenced by phone size. Generally, larger iPhones have bigger batteries, which typically means longer battery life. You can expect the iPhone Plus and iPhone Pro Max to offer an additional three to five hours of battery life compared to smaller models. If maximizing battery life is essential for you, the larger models are the better choice.

Sufficiency of Regular Size iPhone Battery Life

However, if you find the battery life of your current regular-sized iPhone adequate, you may not need the extra capacity of the larger models. Personally, I have found the battery life of the iPhone Pro sufficient for my needs. With a MagSafe charger always within reach, the battery life of regular-sized iPhones can be impressive enough for most users.

Conclusion

Ultimately, the decision on which iPhone size to choose depends on how you use your iPhone and what your specific needs are. If you prefer one-handed use, consume most of your content in vertical format, or are content with the existing battery life of regular-sized iPhones, then the regular size may be the best fit for you. On the other hand, if you don’t mind using both hands, appreciate a larger display for content creation, and want more battery life, you should consider the iPhone Plus or iPhone Pro Max.

The choice is yours, but hopefully, this information helps you make a more informed decision. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Which size did you choose, and are you happy with it? What will you choose for your next iPhone?
